Christmas Shows - Weihnachtsprogramme 2013

To cheer up people that have lost houses and some of them loved ones, we have held Christmas parties in several from the earthquake on October 15 affected towns and villages.

Um Weihnachtsfreude in die vom Erdbeben am 15. Oktober affektierten Regionen zu bringen, haben wir Weihnachtsshows in verschiedenen Ortschaften gehalten. Einige der Opfer haben nicht nur ihr Hab und Gut verloren, sondern auch Familienmitglieder und Freunde.

Here you see some pictures of our Christmas activities, in which we tell stories, play games, pray with the attendees, and give toys, books, crayons, pencils, sharpeners etc to each of the many children.

Roofing for Pangangan Island - Dachspenden für die Insel Pangangan

ALPS, AidLine PhilippineSwiss, has so far donated roofing sheets to almost 100 families in Pangangan island. In the last weeks we have been assessing the need in many different villages and towns in Bohol to find the people and villages that have the greatest need. Among those is Pangangan island, where out of 8 villages 3 were almost completely destroyed by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake on October 15 this year.

ALPS, AidLine PhilippineSwiss hat bisher Aluminiumdächer für fast 100 Familien auf der Insel Pangangan gespendet. In den letzten Wochen haben wir viel Zeit beim Identifizieren der am meist vom Erdbeben am 15. Oktober betroffenen Häuser und Dörfer verbracht. Auf der Insel Pangangan wurden 3 von 8 Dörfern nahezu vollständig vom 7.2 Tremor zerstört.

After assessing other villages and towns, we decided to bring more of the donated roofing sheets to the town Loon and Candabe, which is a village in the municipality of Maribooc. Loon has 388 houses that were completely, and 900 that were partially, demolished during the quake, while in Candabe were 82 totally and 53 partially destroyed.

Nach Besuchen in viele andere Dörfer und Städte entschieden wir uns, mehr von den gespendeten Aluminiumdächern in die Stadt Loon und Candabe, einem Dorf in der Stadtgemeinde Maribooc, zu bringen. In Loon wurden 388 Häuser völlig und 900 teilweise zerstört, währenddem in Candabe 82 komplett und 53 teilweise ruiniert wurden.

Earthquake & Yolanda Relief - Erdbeben- und Taifunhilfe

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have been helping the people affected by the recent earthquake and typhoon. We are truly grateful!

Here is a brief overview of the condition of the Pangangan island just off the shore of Calape in Bohol that we visited yesterday to see their need and to bring some very needed donations.

Out of the 8 Barangays on the island, 3 are almost completely and/or partially destroyed. Following are pictures of just of few of the house ruins:

Wir sind Euch sosehr dankbar für Euren Einsatz, Eure Anteilnahme und Hilfe! Es ist für die Menschen eine grosse Ermutigung, wenn man sich an sie erinnert und ihnen hilft. 

In der letzten Woche waren wir in verschiedenen Ortschaften, um zu sehen, was die Bewohner benötigen. Es gibt sehr viele, die noch in Zelten wohnen, aber viele bauen ihre Häuser wieder auf mit den Überbleibseln der Trümmer, und mit Strohmatten und/oder Sperrholz. 

Hier seht Ihr ein paar Fotos von der Insel Pangangan an der Westküste Bohols. Von den 8 Gemeinden wurden 3 fast völlig vom Erdbeben zerstört. 

The pastor of the only church on Pangangan is still waiting for the exact figure, but he estimates that 220 houses were completely destroyed and need new constructions. At the moment, he is supporting the people in rebuilding their houses. He has organised groups of men to do the work, as well as assisting the locals get in touch with their loved ones abroad and soliciting funds for the rebuilding of their houses. They are using what little is left of the rubble for the building of the new houses, and with what they get from abroad, as well as the parish funds, they buy marine plywood, GI sheets #26, etc to construct simple housing. But they are in desperate need of help! See her some of the houses they are building or have already built:

Der Pfarrer der Insel Pangangan wartet noch immer auf die exakte Anzahl, aber er schätzt, dass 220 Häuser völlig zerstört wurden und neu gebaut werden müssen. Im Moment ist er dabei, die Menschen beim Wiederaufbau ihrer Häuser zu unterstützen. Er hat Gruppen von Männern organisiert, welche im Bau tätig sind, und er hilft den Einheimischen, Kontakt mit ihren Lieben im Ausland aufzunehmen und Hilfe für den Wiederaufbau einzuholen. Was noch an Trümmern verwendbar ist, benutzen sie, und von dem Bisschen, das sie von ihren Verwandten erhalten, sowie einem Zustupf vom Kirchenfond, kaufen sie Sperrholz, Wellblech für die Dächer usw, und sie bauen einfache Häuser. Aber sie brauchen dringend mehr! Hier seht Ihr ein paar der Häuser, die sie bauen:

Since it’s getting cooler and it’s raining heavily and the tents the people house in at the moment give little protection from the cold, people are getting sick, esp the elderly and the children. We were able to give some blankets, as well as working tools, which include 34 hammers, 10 saws, 5 pliers, 5 boxes of nails - different sizes, a 35 kg roll of thick wire, etc, and kitchen ware, which are a big help and blessing to the people.

Da es immer kühler wird und stark regnet, geben die Zelte, in welchen die Einheimischen zur Zeit wohnen, wenig Schutz, und besonders die Kinder und älteren Menschen werden krank. Auf unserem Besuch auf die Insel brachten wir Decken, sowie Arbeitswerkzeug, wie z.B. Hammer, Sägen, Zangen, 5 Schachteln Nägel, eine Rolle dicken Draht, Küchenware usw.

Last Sunday after our weekly Bible study, Manny gave some of the water filters he made to the parents of the STEPS children that we teach, since their only source of water is from the deep wells. The water isn’t potable without a filter.

Letzten Sonntag nach unserer wöchentlichen Bibelstunde gaben wir unsere DIY Wasserfilter an ein paar STEPSeltern. Ihre Trinkwasserquellen sind z.T. schmutzig, aber mit dem Filter wird das Wasser trinkar.

Seminar at Bellevue for Personnel - Seminar im Bellevue für Personal

At the Bellevue Resort we helped with the organization of a seminar for the staff with the motto “Healing, Closure and Moving On”. Almost 100 people attended! We covered topics such as fear, resilience, trust in God and more, and among others we were able to show concrete methods of overcoming fear.

Im Hotel Bellevue haben wir für´s Personal ein Seminar mit dem Motto `Abschluss, Heilung und Forwärtsgehen`organisiert. Fast 100 Teilnehmer hatten wir! Wir haben dabei Themen wie Angst, Resilienz, Gottvertrauen und mehr gewählt, und unter anderem konkrete Wege aufgezeigt, wie man durch gezielte Methoden Ängste überwinden kann.  

Yolanda Relief and Continuous Earthquake Relief

Presently we are coordinating tin roofing for about 500 families in the earthquake affected areas in the centre of Bohol island. - Momentan sind wir beim Koordinieren von Blechdächern für etwa 500 Familien in den vom Erdbeben betroffenen Gebieten in der Mitte der Insel Bohol.

The Swiss Philippine Business Council is donating roofing and has asked us, together with a relief work expert, to identify the most needy families and deliver the roofing. We are coordinating with other organisations, such as the local Philippine Red Cross. - Das Schweizer Philippinische Business Council spendet die Bedachungen und hat uns gebeten, zusammen mit einem Katastrophenhilfe-Experten, die bedürftigen Familien zu identifizieren und die Lieferung der Dächer in die Wege zu leiten und die Verwendung zu überprüfen. Wir arbeiten mit anderen Organisationen, wie z. B. der lokalen philippinischen Roten Kreuz, zusammen.

Since the typhoon 5 days ago, Bohol has power shortages and henceforth no water. We are helping to coordinate the clean-up of deep wells in Panglao, and Manny is teaching people how to make DIY filters to make the water potable. - Seit dem Taifun vor 5 Tagen hat Bohol keinen Strom und fortan kein Wasser. Wir helfen bei der Sanierung von Tiefbrunnen in Panglao, und Manny lehrt Menschen, wie man DIY Wasserfilter macht, sodass das Wasser trinkbar wird.

Disaster Relief - Katastrophenhilfe

Yesterday we left with a team from Bellevue Resort for Antequera, another region that was greatly affected by the recent earthquake and that hadn't received a lot of help goods.- Gestern haben wir zusammen mit einem Team vom Bellevue Resort die Region von Antequera besucht. Antequera ist auch sehr betroffen vom letztwöchigen Erdbeben, und hat bis anhin nur wenig Hilfe erhalten.

As on our recent trips, the earthquake has left its marks of destruction also here. - Wie auf unseren letzten Reisen in betroffene Regionen sieht man auch hier viel Zerstörung.

Update from our relief efforts since the earthquake on Oct 15: So far we were able to buy and distribute 3700 cans of fish, 1000 kgs of rice, 720 bottles of water, several thousand packs of crackers and 5 big boxes of medicine. We prayed with each group we worked with, gave them reading materials as well as goods, and were blessed with their sweet and thankful responses. This does not include the help goods we helped distribute with other teams. - Update seit Anfang unserer Katastrophenhilfe: Soweit haben wir 3700 Fischdosen, 1000 kg Reis, 720 Wasserflaschen, Tausende von Crackers und 5 grosse Kisten von Medikamenten verteilt.
