Medical Mission for Pregnant Mommies - Medizinische MIssion für schwangere Mütter

In October we had 2 medical missions for pregnant mommies in Dauis and Libaon, Panglao. - Im Oktober hatten wir 2 Einsätze mit gratis Untersuchen und Medikamenten für schwangere Mütter in Dauis und Libaong, Panglao.

Mobile Medical Mission for Children

On August 23 another Medical Mission was held, but this time for the children of the poor villagers of Doljo in Panglao. Dr. Fee examined 87 children, and each of them received free medicines, such as antibiotics, cough syrop, medicines against asthma and more.
We find a big problem is a lack of education among the parents about proper nutrition, water intake etc, which leads to low resistance and many dieseases, incl. infections, skin rashes, exzemas etc. Little and unclean water is another source of many of the sicknesses.
While the doctor is treating the patients, we teach the mothers and fathers about proper nutrition, dieseas prevention, proper sanitation, hygiene etc.

Am 23. August fand wieder eine medizinische Mission statt, und zwar für die Kinder der armen Doljobewohner. Dr Fee untersuchte insgesamt 87 Kinder, und jedes Kind erhielt gratis Medikamente, wie z.B. Antibiotika, Hustensirup, Asthmamedikamente und mehr.
Ein großes Problem hier ist der Mangel an Bildung unter den Eltern über richtige Ernährung, Wasseraufnahme etc., welcher zu geringem Krankheitswiderstand unter den Kindern und somit zu vielen Krankheiten führt, inkl. Infektionen, Hautausschlägen u.s.w. Zu wenig und unsauberes Wasser ist mitunter ein grosser Grund, warum gerade in dieser Saison viele krank sind!
Während die Ärztin die Patienten untersucht und Medikamente verschreibt, lehren wir die Eltern über gesunde Ernährung, Krankheitsverhütung, sanitäre Versorgung, Hygiene u.s.w.

1st STEPS Graduation in Bohol

On August 22, 2012, The Bellevue Resort, Bohol, hosted the graduation of the 1st batch of STEPS graduates.- Am 22. August 2012 hielten wir den Abschluss von 22 STEPS-Schülern im Bellevue Resort in Panglao, Bohol.

After many days of preparation and rehearsal, the 22 children and their parents were exited when the Graduation day finally arrived. Each child, dressed in a traditional Toga (Togas sponsored by Mrs. Elvieh Sarmiento), was ready to do a little presentation, such as singing a song, on the spot reading from the Early Bird Readers, or reciting a poem. - Nach vielen Tagen der Vorbereitung war es endlich soweit: Der Schulabschluss! Jedes Kind, in einer traditionellen Toga  gekleidet, war bereit, entweder ein Lied zu singen, aus den Lesebüchern zu lesen oder ein Gedicht zu rezitieren.

Proceeding, each child received a Graduation Certificate, handed by Mr. Dustin Chan. - Anschliesslich erhielt jedes Kind ein STEPS Abschlusszeugnis, welches von Dustin Chan, Sohn und Nachfolger von Herr Johnny Chan, ausgehändigt wurde.

Mrs. Anunciason Salon from the Department of Education, Panglao, and Mr. Franz Eichenauer, GM, spoke words of appreciation, after which Chairman Johnny Chan received from Mr. & Mrs. Gamonez an Appreciation Certificate for his years of faithfully supporting the mission. - Nachdem Frau Salon vom Schulungsdepartment und Herr Eichenauer, Hotelführer, ein paar Worte der Anerkennung sprachen, erhielt Herr Johnny Chan ein Anerkennungszertifikat von uns für seine grosszügige Unterstützung unserer Mission.

 

The crowning of the graduation was a delicious dinner for each of the attendees, sponsored by The Bellevue Resort, Bohol. Needless to say the joy and gratitude the children and parents felt for such a treat! - Dei Krönung des Abends war eine leckere Mahlzeit, welche das Bellevue Resort spendete. Wir fühlten uns alle verwöhnt!

Mobile Medical Mission

This month, on August 14, we started our Medical Mission in Panglao!
Thanks to our donors, as well as the free medical assistance of Dr. Evangeline Bon-Lazaro, who happens to also be the vice-mayor in the district of Panglao, we were able to give free medical examinations and medication to 81 patients!
About half of the patients were 60 years and above, the other half teenagers with mumps, pregnant mommies and men. Among the sicknesses treated are the most common high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis.
The medicines, medical utensils, fold-up bed and many other items needed to make this mobile medical mission possible are donated on a continual basis by dear friends of ours from Switzerland. Truly, “Together we can make a difference!"
The Medical Mission is an ongoing venture and will be moved monthly so that other communities have the opportunity to receive free medical care for their poor people.

Diesen Monat am 14. August fingen wir mit userer medizinischen Mission in Doljo, Panglao, an. Dank unserer Spender, sowie der liebevollen und unentgeltlichen Mithilfe von Dr. Evangeline Bon Lazaro (welche auch Vizebürgermeisterin in Panglao ist), war es uns möglich, 81 Patienten/Patientinnen kostenlos zu untersuchen und ihnen gratis Medikamente abzugeben!
Mehr als die Hälfte der Patienten war über 60, und die andere Hälfte waren Teenager, schwangere Frauen und jüngere Männer. Die behandelten Krankheiten sind v.a. Bluthochdruck, Blutzucker und Arthritis.
Medikamente, medizinisches Zubehör, Klappbett und viele andere notwendigen Dinge, die unsere mobile medizinische Mission möglich machen, werden fortlaufend durch unsere lieben Freunde aus der Schweiz gespendet. Wahrlich, "Gemeinsam können wir unsere Welt verbessern!" 

Die medizinische Mission ist ein fortlaufendes Unterfangen, welches monatlich gewechselt und in anderen Gemeinden gebracht wird, sodass auch andere Armen die Möglichkeit haben, kostenlose medizinische Versorgung zu empfangen.

More STEPS children join

We just added another 9 children to our 3rd batch of preschooler, which brings our total up to 28 children in the 3rd batch, and 27 kinder-gardeners in our combined group of 1st and 2nd batch. In total we teach now 55 children in 2 groups! - Letzte Woche fügten wir 9 Kindergärtner unserer 3. STEPSgruppe zu, und unterrichten somit ein Total von 55 Kindern in 2 Gruppen.

We are working on developing our organic gardening and Aquaponic system to get a grip on it and teach & introduce it to the poor in Doljo - Wir arbeiten an der Entwicklung unserer Bio-Gärtnerei und unseres Aquaponiksystems, und sobald wir das ganze im Griff haben, möchten wir es in die Armenviertel einführen.

July 16 was a special day for our STEPS children, in fact it was like Christmas! Vicky, a friend of ours, came to visit our STEPS preschool, and she brought along 50 boxes filled with presents for each of the children! Many families are so poor that they often eat only once or twice a day, and cannot afford presents for their children, not even for birthdays or at Christmas. You can imagine the surprise and joy it was for the children and parents when they received the gifts! The pictures speak for themselves! - Der 16 Juli war ein ganz spezieller Tag für unsere STEPS Kinder, ein bisschen wie Weihnachten! Vicky, eine Freundin, kam zu Besuch in unsere STEPS Vorschule und brachte 50 Schachteln voller Geschenke mit - eines für jedes Kind! Viele dieser Familien essen nur ein oder zweimal pro Tag, und sie können keine Geburtstags- oder Weihnachtsgesschenke für ihre Kinder kaufen.  Sie können sich die Freude an den Geschenken vorstellen! Die Bilder sprechen Bände!

3rd STEPS Group & Parents Seminar - 3.STEPS Gruppe und Eltern Seminar

Our 3rd group of 19 new STEPS children was enrolled last July 6, and with it we held another parents' seminar to ensure the parents participation in the education of their children. We believe that it is first and foremost the parent´s responsibility to make sure that their children get a good education, and we help them by pointing out how they can take an active part in helping their children learn. - 19 Kinder für eine 3. STEPS-Gruppe wurden am 6. Juli neu aufgenommen, und damit hielten wir auch ein neues Eltern-Seminar, um die Teilnahme der Eltern an der Erziehung und Schulung ihrer Kinder zu gewährleisten. Es ist unsere Überzeugung, dass es in erster Linie die Verantwortung der Eltern ist, sicher zu stellen, dass ihre Kinder eine gute Ausbildung erhalten, und wir helfen ihnen dabei, indem wir sie darauf hinweisen, wie sie ihre Kinder darin unterstützen können.
